Upcoming Wedding Gig!!! Empty
PostSubject: Upcoming Wedding Gig!!!   Upcoming Wedding Gig!!! EmptySun Apr 05, 2009 10:42 pm

It's been several years, but I'm taking my bits and bobs out on the road to (hopefully) impress at a wedding in October.

It helps that it's my sister-in-law who's getting married and I am also the Usher, so there's no great pressure to be "the performer" when I do my mix'n'mingle. Also, being family, I'm not being paid anything so there's another pressure off my head.

In essence, I'll be performing for my love of magic. I have ideas that I've had in place for years and that I've tried out on various people - it all just needs polishing to a level that doesn't let the team down.

I'm really looking forward to it - should be a good laugh!

That's a really "comfortable" situation to be in, isn't it?

I'm driving down to Penzance over Easter (plus Mrs Dave plus my mother-in-law) to perform at a charity festival at St Ives that my nephew's organising. I suppose that I should feel some slight pressure since it's called the Magic Uncle Easter Freak Show, but I'm feeling totally relaxed and really looking forward to it ('cept for the 300-mile drive each way).

I wonder whether I could saw my mother-in-law in half ..... and then leave her like that.

Yay - have fun Mark.

Why not take the opportunity to do something really mad and impossible - really outrageous that could only work one time only for the bride and groom.

I'm so glad that you're not suggesting that to Gordon - I could almost see the words Restraining Order forming on my screen.

Good luck with the gig Mark.

As Ian said, an ideal opportunity to try stuff out, a sort of dress rehearsal for a future maybe paying gig! Most of all....enjoy it.

Well, it'll be a Catholic wedding so I suppose I could always produce the Pope from the Wedding Cake...

And then, being from Lewes, I'd BURN HIM!!!Twisted Evil *

* Before anyone takes offence, it's an historical reference to Lewes, tied in with Bonfire night.

Coin through sheet of dental dam ..... but using a condom instead. (Actually, Paul Daniels recommends using a condom for that effect.)

Just got hold of a "Phil Plus deck" - what a great piece of kit! I've been getting great reactions to it since hawking it around the workplace.

Ali Bongo (R.I.P) did a lecture at the Sussex Magic Circle many, many years ago where he demonstrated his take on it (the "Fred" trick?) which I've used that for ages. However, the Phil Plus is so much cleaner as you can let the spectator think of any card in the deck and you 'name' it.

Also, the thin cards can also be used for a space-saving KK....!

Anyone else playing with this deck? Didn't Steve really love it?

I think it's named in honour of Phil Goldstein who came up with the idea of using a deck of thin cards with extras for the old "Fred" trick (whcih tended to use two decks plus rough & smooth)

So I suppose nowadays they should call it the Max deck as he's given up on his original name.
